It’s hard to believe this movie wasn’t recognized more widely; it easily ranks among the year's best films, and the fact that it was overlooked by the Oscars is disappointing. While it received a nomination for Costume Design, I had hoped to see recognition in categories like Best Actor, Actress, Original Screenplay, and Motion Picture. Robert Zemeckis, known for several popular movies, directed this impressive spy thriller-drama. The casting choices were among the best seen recently, and the visual recreation of the 1940s setting was superb, effectively conveying the atmosphere of wartime society. The story centers on two spies from opposing countries who meet in Casablanca with a shared mission. They pose as a newly married couple, but their relationship evolves into something genuine. The narrative then jumps forward several years, presenting them with a critical challenge where they must demonstrate their innocence, facing severe repercussions if they fail. This creates a suspenseful and thrilling plot that steadily intensifies until the conclusion. The film’s length was noticeable, yet I didn't find it tedious; time seemed to pass quickly as I remained captivated by what was unfolding on screen. The engaging storyline held my attention throughout. It’s clear that over the years, the Oscars have missed opportunities to acknowledge outstanding performances, and this one is no exception when considering Brad’s work. I initially assumed this would be another World War II film drawing inspiration from actual events, but it's actually a spy story set against that historical backdrop. The movie explores how their personal lives and professional duties intertwine and affect each other. I am unsure when I will encounter another spy thriller of such quality. It’s considerably underrated, and the opinions of some film critics were surprisingly inaccurate. I wholeheartedly suggest seeing it. _9/10_
