The film draws its story from a true pair, presenting a disturbing horror centered around “Michel” (Laurent Lucas) and “Gloria” (Lola Dueñas). Their relationship begins with intense physical attraction, which then develops into Michel’s odd compulsion to mimic the Black Widow spider afterward—a quirk Gloria redirects by suggesting she'd be more useful as his helper in acquiring things. From there, a string of increasingly shocking and bizarre crimes unfolds as various defenseless women become targets of their schemes. However, no one anticipates that jealousy would emerge as a significant factor; Gloria is developing feelings, while Michel isn’t reciprocating. A confrontation seems inevitable, and it will be brutal. The movie gets off to a promising start, establishing an initial feeling of dread that holds the viewer's attention. Unfortunately, the performances and script aren't strong enough to maintain this atmosphere, and the events begin to feel somewhat foreseeable and overly dramatic. Around the final twenty minutes, the heightened emotional state becomes tiresome, leading to a loss of engagement. There are moments of dark humor scattered throughout, and Héléna Noguerra’s performance as "Solange" is notably good, but beyond that, the whole experience feels rather disappointing.
