The initial moments are stranger than usual, but that might be fitting given the story centers on extreme violence and a remarkable maternal bond. It seems like science is benefiting those with wealth; specifically, the disturbed young man has a mother who doesn't just tolerate his behavior, but actively supports it by assisting his need to inflict pain and take lives. That’s only within the first half-hour of the movie, and I have a feeling I will get frustrated because the actor playing the antagonist is exceptionally good in how he embodies the character. The film prompts thought about whether exceptional ability is linked to a sense of immunity from consequences, or if it's something more profound within people’s minds—perhaps his brilliance itself is arbitrary.
