The Alien series has experienced highs and lows, with a tendency toward the latter of late. This new installment, positioned between *Alien: Covenant* and the original *Alien*, represents a worthwhile addition from Fede Alvarez, echoing the visual style and atmosphere of the initial film. The narrative is fairly straightforward, lacking surprising developments that haven't appeared previously within the series; however, I found Cailee Spaeny’s performance as the lead to be enjoyable. A memorable quote, "Getaway from her you bitch," wasn’t quite delivered with the impact of Bale’s “I’ll be back” in *Terminator Salvation*. Nevertheless, it's a generally engaging science fiction horror movie featuring impressive effects, both tangible and computer-generated. **3.5/5**
