I found *Alien* to be less packed with action—and therefore not quite as thrilling—as I’d expected, but it remained a pleasant experience lasting almost two hours. The acting is commendable; Sigourney Weaver, who was relatively new at the time, delivers a noteworthy performance. Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton, Yaphet Kotto, and John Hurt are also good in their roles. I would have liked to see more of them, which is understandable considering how constrained the environment is—there’s naturally only so much screen time available for each character. Among its other strengths are the clever set design, dependable special effects, and skillful creation of suspense. To be honest, it didn't truly frighten me, as I don’t often get scared by fictional stories, but I remained completely engaged throughout. It also deserves credit for establishing a standard in the genre. I am very curious to watch the subsequent films, earlier installments, and related projects with crossovers.
