Claire Rushbrook portrays Ava, a teaching assistant raising her children after experiencing a difficult marriage. During an afternoon shower, she accepts a ride from Ali (Adeel Akhtar), who playfully teases her about her musical preferences—folk and country—and manages to elicit smiles. The movie then follows a somewhat foreseeable course, requiring her to navigate disagreements with her independent son, Callum (Shaun Thomas), alongside his separation from his wife, Runa (Ellora Torchia). Runa has recently suffered a miscarriage and moved on with someone else. When Ava and Ali share screen time, their interactions are lively, filled with humor, and the film feels quite compelling. However, the plot becomes overly engineered, and once the direction of the story is clear, the emotional aspects become too noticeable, ultimately causing the movie to lose its momentum.
