This is a truly excellent film—the writing, acting, directing, and cinematography are all superb. The two-hour running time passes quickly because each moment feels full of character development and dramatic weight. While not an expansive production, its importance is undeniable; it presents a captivating and moving narrative about a region of the world whose intricacies remain largely unfamiliar to many viewers. It perhaps doesn’t quite reach the heights of other acclaimed Foreign Language Oscar contenders like City Of God or A Prophet, but it gets remarkably near and shares several common elements with them.
