The story centers on a situation where the President’s aircraft is taken over by revolutionaries from a Communist background. Following this event, the President, portrayed by Harrison Ford, focuses on rescuing his wife and daughter along with the other people being held captive, including William H. Macy. Glenn Close takes on the role of the Vice President, and Dean Stockwell appears as the Secretary of Defense. "Air Force One," released in 1997, is a political suspense/thriller that shares similarities with "Under Siege" (1992) and "Executive Decision" (1996). Although I find those films more appealing, this one holds up well alongside them. Scenes depicting the Russian prison were filmed at Mansfield Reformatory in Ohio, which also served as a filming location for “The Shawshank Redemption.” The film’s length is 2 hours and 4 minutes. Filming took place at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland (standing in for the Presidential palace in Kazakhstan), Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus (representing Ramstein AFB in Germany), Mansfield Reformatory, and Los Angeles International Airport (used for scenes set in Moscow).
