Errol Flynn, though showing signs of age, remains appealing in this adventure film about a Royal Navy officer, "Brian Hawke," working to uncover the defenses of a pirate base located in Suarez Bay, Madagascar. He finds himself attracted to "Mistress Stevens," portrayed by Maureen O'Hara, a captivating Coast Captain who retains her spirited nature. Conflict arises as he clashes with Anthony Quinn, and their actions lead them to unintentionally take possession of the Mogul’s daughter, necessitating interactions with her nurse, played by Mildred Natwick, whose performance echoes Una O’Connor. The film suffers from an overabundance of romantic plotlines that feel slow-paced, accompanied by a dull musical score composed by Hans Salter and excessive amounts of spoken lines. Despite these shortcomings, it provides a diverting story with a final sequence full of action.
