Occasionally, smaller movies manage to shed light on societal issues, though they aren’t for everyone. It isn't intended as a statement piece, but rather explores the idea of doing what is right. While personal well-being matters, it also suggests caring about others. The story centers around an ordinary contemporary couple who encounter a young woman working in a strip club and attempt to help her leave that life behind and embrace a more conventional existence. They are aware of the potential dangers of involving her, which leads to complications impacting their family and friendships. It’s surprising to learn it made Quentin Tarantino's list of top ten films from 2013. I didn’t dislike it, but it could have been stronger. This is the writer and producer’s first time directing a feature film, coming from a female filmmaker with a focus on women's experiences in a dramatic setting. It provides entertainment while also tackling serious themes. The performances by Kathryn Hahn and Juno Temple were commendable. It's an enjoyable experience if you don’t expect something grand. _6/10_
