I think I saw the last installment of these movies in theaters—a lucky break considering how many weak films ended up on the big screen because of the pandemic restrictions. Thankfully, this one didn’t get that treatment and could be viewed at home instead. The rather dull, self-centered portrayals of "Tess" (Josephine Langford) and "Hardin" (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) keep switching between affection and animosity for reasons I still couldn't grasp even after watching the first two films. The story felt like a series of letters to a lonely hearts column brought to life—each issue played out on screen by the pair, before things reset (for better or worse), and then it started all over again. They are both attractive, I’ll admit, but their frequent, artfully shot intimate encounters set to some forgettable AOR music quickly become tiresome. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this sort of thing, but I found their push-and-pull relationship, the secrets they kept about things that ultimately didn’t matter to anyone—especially those who claim to "love" each other—to be incredibly tedious. The dialogue is truly awkward and delivered poorly (particularly by HFT, with his distinctive “Letraset” tattoos), making this a real slog to get through.
