"Ad Vitam" feels familiar—it treads ground already covered by numerous other French action crime thrillers—but it falls short of expectations. The narrative, glimpsed in the initial scenes and then again during the film’s final section, delivers what you'd anticipate: fast-paced action sequences, suspense, and impressive visuals. Unfortunately, these engaging moments are bookended by an abundance of lighthearted camaraderie among the police force that feels exaggerated and prolonged, consuming a significant portion of the movie's length. This results in a film that seems surprisingly brief and, consequently, leaves you wanting more. Ultimately, it features competent performances and some solid action but is undermined by a script that struggles to distinguish itself from an action crime thriller and a lengthy police drama. It’s a barely worthwhile viewing experience.
