I appreciate the slower scenes within action-oriented and science fiction films; the scene where the family gathers at Avengers Tower in _Age of Ultron_ stands out as a highlight for me. It's those quieter, more thoughtful instances that define John Wick’s character. What feels strange is when a calm, introspective drama gets interrupted by bursts of large-scale action or science fiction elements. _Ad Astra_ falls into this category. The film mostly consists of Brad Pitt providing narration over visuals of space and the environment, engaging in subdued discussions about his father, or simply conveying his feelings. And then, out of nowhere, there are space pirates! It’s an odd combination, and I'm not convinced it truly gels. _Ad Astra_ offers a unique experience, and if that’s what you’re after, it might be worth seeing, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s very good. _Final rating:★★½ - There was a lot to like, but ultimately it didn't quite come together._
