This film feels like an attempt to boost Carl Weathers’ profile, but it falls short. While he possesses some appeal, the script gives him lines that simply don't work, even considering the era they were written in; they aren't amusing at all. The plot itself is fairly weak, and the action sequences are unremarkable. There wasn't much of a connection between Weathers and Vanity, who seems pleasant enough but isn’t particularly convincing as an actress. Craig T. Nelson’s portrayal of the antagonist had potential, but he doesn't make a significant impact beyond a couple of moments. It’s easy to understand why this movie didn't perform well in theaters (approximately $38 million when adjusted for inflation), and it appears that Weathers’ film career didn't progress much afterward. **2.25/5**
