It appears Acid has been unfairly missed by many. A stark and unflinching honesty runs through the entire movie. It's a story about surviving after the world ends, and it doesn’t shy away from difficult realities. The characters, both central and supporting, are treated with severity. Bad things occur to regular people because that is simply what happens when catastrophe strikes. However, there is still a feeling of optimism present; a quiet but firm belief in love and connection which helps to counter all the unpleasantness. The performances are superb, as are the settings and overall production design. Everything feels incredibly realistic, and it's somewhat disturbing. I generally don’t enjoy films centered around survival during disasters, so for me to say that this one is significantly better than most carries weight. It really is a captivating and well-structured film that I suggest you consider watching.
