It might be a bit much to imagine Eli Wallach as a Greek character named “Cacapoulos,” yet he seems to be enjoying himself in this serviceable western. He narrowly avoids execution and then takes the belongings and horses of "Stevens" (Terrence Hill) and “Bussy” (Bud Spencer), fleeing while planning his own unusual revenge against those who wrongly tried to hang him. Unbeknownst to him, there was $300,000 in their possession, and these bounty hunters weren’t about to simply let it go. So, after a series of escapades, they eventually reunite, and “Cacapoulos” allows them into his clever scheme to find "Drake" (Kevin McCarthy). He is the only one left from the men who initially attempted to hang him, and he also informs them that their money has already been spent by gamblers and casinos throughout Arizona. Consequently, they feel like they have little to lose and join forces with their former adversary, along with the agile “Thomas” (Brock Peters), and begin their pursuit. "Drake" isn't difficult to locate, but getting to him presents a challenge since he owns a heavily guarded, completely dishonest casino—and perhaps there’s some treasure inside as well. There's plenty of action throughout, but Wallach really carries the film with his playful demeanor, leading up to a fairly entertaining final twenty minutes. I imagine Nick Cravat had probably stopped wearing leotards by 1968, but Peters provides adequate support and Hill consistently has a spark in his eye, making this work adequately. The movie is too lengthy, and some of the voice acting clearly sounds like it was done hastily after several drinks, but ultimately it’s an agreeable experience for a star you might not remember, though you'll likely find yourself enjoying it.
