The title is appealing, but that’s really the highlight of 'ABCD'. The movie prioritizes dance sequences over everything else; it feels as though they largely ignored developing a solid storyline and instead concentrated on showcasing the dancing. To be fair, most viewers probably just want to see the dances anyway. Nevertheless, more effort could have been put into the plot, because it relies heavily on tired clichés and predictable situations. It might have worked well enough as a lighthearted film of about ninety minutes, but at 136 minutes long, it felt like an endurance test – I found it to be quite slow. The events were acceptable until the ending, which is really bad from a narrative perspective. It’s a shame because there's a promising setup with a significant event—the performance itself is enjoyable—but then any forward motion dissipates quickly. Prabhu Deva (Vishnu), while pleasant enough, doesn't seem suited for a leading role; he didn't add anything particularly memorable or remarkable to the character. Ganesh Acharya is fine and provides some amusement as Gopi. The other dancers don’t distinguish themselves beyond their dancing abilities. I was let down by this film in several respects, but those seeking a movie overflowing with dance may find it enjoyable.
