I went into "Abandoned" really hoping for a scary movie that would keep me engaged, and I was looking forward to seeing what it offered. Emma Roberts does a good job as an actress; she manages to show fear and anticipation in her part, pulling you into the story about her character’s strange encounters with someone nearby and the disturbing past of where she's living. The movie moves toward some frightening moments, but it didn't quite live up to what I thought it could be because the plot gets confusing and the writing isn't very strong. Roberts does a good job with what she has, but the story doesn’t really explain what it was trying to say. It wasn’t surprising when they showed who the bad guy was, and adding ghosts that seemed random just made the movie worse. "Abandoned" could have been much better, but in the end, it didn't provide the suspense or excitement it suggested it would.
