"A Working Man" unintentionally comes across as a parody of American action movies. The story centers on a man who previously served in the military and now works for a construction company that builds homes for migrant families. He sets out to rescue the family’s daughter—portrayed as an idealized figure—from ruthless Russian human traffickers. Everything feels amplified beyond reality. The depiction of the working-class protagonist, presented as a rough but patriotic man with a good heart, is exaggerated. Similarly, the portrayal of the migrant family and their exceptionally driven daughter, supposedly embodying the American dream, seems overblown. Even the construction workers, who are warned to be careful on the job—a detail that suggests occupational safety is emphasized—appear unrealistically cheerful, resembling characters from an early production of "Snow White" (the original version, not the recent film). And predictably, the Russian villains are portrayed as violent, merciless, and unintelligent. It’s genuinely surprising how obvious they are. I'll be direct: this movie is filled with tired tropes, biased perspectives, a pro-military slant, and nationalistic sentiment—it’s just awful. It was also noteworthy to see venture capitalists from "State Street" briefly appear in the opening scenes. If their goal was to gain publicity through the film, it certainly didn't work for me. Are there any redeeming qualities? Not really. Even the action sequences feel clumsy and uninspired, like something I’ve already seen countless times. Ultimately, it’s a poor imitation of better action films—likely ones you’ve encountered before. It’s burdened with worn-out clichés, stereotypes, and noticeable biases; best to skip this one.
