Following the considerable success of "The Brady Bunch Movie" released in 1995, the filmmakers quickly produced a sequel the following year that surpasses its predecessor. Both movies satirize the Brady family’s image of wholesomeness and togetherness by contrasting it with their dated fashion and attitudes through stories set in the mid-90s. However, these films avoid being cruel; they maintain a feeling of genuine kindness. The performances from the cast and guest actors are all excellent, including Tim Matheson as the antagonist. Christine Taylor is memorable as Marcia, though it’s difficult to match Maureen McCormick's iconic portrayal. Jennifer Elise Cox also makes an impression in the role of Jan, as does Gary Cole portraying Mike Brady. Shelley Long is believable as Carol Brady struggling with that unusual hairstyle. I am awarding this film a high mark because I found it consistently humorous and enjoyable from start to finish. The most amusing storyline involves Greg and Marcia’s sudden attraction (once they realize they aren't actually related), and one of the strongest moments occurs during the scene at the public pool, featuring reimagined versions of Jan, Marcia & Cindy. The movie has a runtime of 90 minutes and was filmed in Santa Monica & Los Angeles, CA, as well as Hawaii. GRADE: A-
