The movie has a certain oddness to it that I found enjoyable, and the visual effect for the insect is well done. However, the characters' responses following the demise of the large bug don’t quite track, even when taking into account its status as an early film. The character begins attacking other insects after the initial one is defeated, but there’s no indication that he previously saw them. It could be a result of the production quality, but it feels like an extraneous element. Still, it's fascinating to consider this movie within the horror genre because it demonstrates how comedy has been interwoven into horror from its earliest days. You could certainly label it as campy, and I think those two genres naturally complement each other.
