It’s really enjoyable, I intend to watch it again, and I suggest others check it out too. The acting is superb; I'm not sure if a better group of performers could have been assembled. Just the thought of Alan Tudyk, Heath Ledger, and Shannyn Sossamon brings a smile to my face. Each actor delivers an excellent performance, elevating their standard character types with inspired choices that go above and beyond the script; the unpleasant characters are truly despicable, while I find myself drawn to the main characters and those who support them. A key element of what sets this film apart is the inclusion of contemporary music—music that really didn't fit the setting of medieval England or Europe. There are moments where it’s easy to think you're watching "10 Things I Hate About You" or another teen romantic comedy from around that era. Luckily, they managed to blend the jousting sequences with character-driven storylines, which prove to be much more engaging; however, if you weren’t Kevin Smith, it would be difficult to remove the jousting entirely from a film centered on tournaments. This is an entertaining movie that also promotes positive themes about women and class equality—I encourage everyone to watch it.
