It’s exactly as corny and foreseeable as you might expect. While there are definitely less enjoyable Christmas movies on television, *'A Gingerbread Romance'* doesn’t manage to be engaging, not even slightly. The production feels noticeably flawed, especially when it comes to the editing and how quickly things move. Duane Henry as Adam and Tia Mowry as Taylor deliver serviceable performances; they both have appealing qualities, but their characters would have benefited from a stronger connection with each other. The supporting actors aren't particularly impressive, although many of them don’t get much more than a line or two to work with. I appreciate aspects of the idea centered on building gingerbread houses, but it doesn’t prove very interesting – and Adam and Taylor’s supposed competition isn’t much of a threat, so the plot never really picks up speed. It's essentially just an uncomplicated romantic story stretched out over 90 minutes.
