I wasn't sure what to make of the title, assuming it was figurative. I thought maybe someone with social anxiety would be hiding behind a white cloth. What actually unfolded really took me by surprise. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy it initially; the beginning felt slow. That pie-eating sequence dragged on forever and seemed pointless – those kinds of moments are what make things tedious. However, the actress did a good job during that scene. Then the story became truly remarkable, something I hadn't anticipated at all. Ultimately, my initial impression was that it was just okay, then I considered it decent, before realizing it was actually quite unique and impressive. It seems like letting some time pass between seeing the film and forming an opinion only improves your appreciation of it. The plot is fairly straightforward: a couple living ordinary lives are impacted when one of them dies in a car accident. Soon after, their ghost remains in the house, searching for a reason to stay. You could describe it as a love story that exists beyond our world. As time goes on, things shift and complicate the search. However, there’s always a solution, even for a ghost, so figuring out how that happens and what it is makes up the rest of the narrative. The acting was solid, but most of the film focuses on the ghost, who could have been anyone under a sheet, really. So I can't single anyone out for particular praise. Apparently, Casey did his own stunts, though it wasn’t necessarily a standout performance; more of a simple presence. This is his second collaboration with the director, along with Rooney Mara. One question that everyone who saw it seemed to have was about what the note said. I looked it up and found an interview with the director stating that nobody knows, not even Mara remembers what she wrote down. This ranks among the best films I’ve seen. Whether or not there's a clear explanation for how things unfolded isn’t really the point; instead, it’s the cleverness of developing such a concept and bringing it to life that makes it interesting. They didn't even need expensive special effects, except in a few instances. It’s destined to become a cult classic and will eventually be regarded as one of the top 1,000 films ever made. I would suggest watching it, but give it some time before forming an opinion, and maybe read up on the plot if you're feeling unsure. It’s genuinely inventive. _7/10_
