It’s that time of year again, when holiday programming floods television screens. There are so many Christmas movies available now, making it tough to find a worthwhile one, especially since they're all new and there aren't any reviews out yet. I chose this film at random, even though I’ve already seen quite a few during this season. It seems like every year I have to wade through them; they tend to be pretty much the same, just with minor variations. That’s what I anticipated here as well. The movie centers on a shop owner and his young daughter who are dealing with a divorce while he tries to move forward with his new girlfriend, who happens to be a firefighter. Things get tricky when his ex-wife asks him to pretend they're still together in order to boost sales of her new book, which causes problems for his girlfriend. On top of that, his daughter is the one most impacted by all this drama. The resolution of these issues concludes the story. Overall, it’s not a terrible film compared to what I’ve watched recently. It's a straightforward narrative with uncomplicated characters, but the plot unfolds in an orderly fashion, although it’s fairly easy to guess where things are going. My only complaint is about the main actor; everyone else seemed well-suited for their roles. I don’t question his acting ability—he was perfectly adequate—but he just didn't quite seem right alongside the others, at least not to me. So hopefully you won’t experience that same feeling. The young actress Sadie reminded me a little of Jeff Daniels, but I can’t say for sure. There isn’t anything particularly remarkable about this film, so don’t go in expecting something groundbreaking. It's an agreeable, lighthearted, and uncomplicated Christmas movie geared towards families. _6/10_
