I wasn't familiar with the first film before deciding to watch this one, but Christine Baranski’s presence was enough to convince me. I enjoy her work on The Good Fight and appreciate those moments when her character lets out a laugh. This movie has its share of humorous instances alongside some awkward ones; for example, there's a mother who completely disregards personal space while inserting herself into her daughter's world, or scenes as uncomfortable as the waxing sequence. Still, if you’re tired of overly sentimental Christmas movies with predictable happy endings, this could be a welcome change, provided any children are asleep.
