Returning to something that’s previously been deeply unsettling felt significant. It struck me as possibly Andrew Garfield's strongest work yet, especially considering his limited film appearances since 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' was so poorly received. He portrays a compelling character—a young, unmarried dad facing hardship. After losing the family home to foreclosure, he’s forced into an immediate choice intended to provide shelter for his family. As complications arise and problems mount, he attempts to resolve them with very little hope of success. Michael Shannon also delivers a noteworthy performance. The narrative unfolds in a way that maintains a sense of mystery, presenting a well-told story about what someone might do when given a small chance at redemption. You’ll likely anticipate the plot development, but the timing and method remain something to observe with anticipation. I found myself enjoying almost everything about the movie, though the resolution felt somewhat underwhelming and more focused on visual presentation than substance. 8/10
