It’s surprising how lackluster this film turned out to be, given its premise of interwoven stories. Fernando Meirelles doesn’t achieve the same impact he did with *City of God*. The movie feels like an unsuccessful combination of Alejandro Iñarritu and Guillermo Arriaga's works, reminiscent of films such as *Amores perros*, *21 grams*, or *Babel*.
