The initial portion, lasting roughly an hour, centers on characters who ultimately don’t matter to what happens later. There's a kid who is enjoyable, and the mother too. It felt like a slog getting through it all. I wish they had spent more time dealing with the situation involving the person from whom the baby was taken; he seemed interesting. He possessed an infant child, which is quite unusual. It could have been improved by making it tighter and less drawn out. (A strange thing: I initially believed I’d seen something called "bone temple" because of what appeared at the very end.)
