Chandler Danier on 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

8/10 · Jan 29, 2026

This film delivered exactly what I’d hoped for from the first one. Doc Samson. I’ve previously criticized musical numbers appearing mid-movie, but this film completely changed my mind. Even my teenage self, who embraces darker interests, was genuinely impressed by a particular sequence. It felt less like a movie and more like something else entirely. Thankfully, it avoids the uncomfortable and poorly done sections that often appear near the end of Maiden. The concept of King Jim and his group has potential – there are many interesting possibilities to explore. However, it's difficult to bring those ideas to life. I’d prefer fewer lengthy discussions and more action with zombies. I don’t think what he’s presenting is convincing, and it seems others feel the same way, so what’s the purpose of flaying people alive? They claim it’s preferable to be the one doing the flaying, but those about to be flayed should be prepared. Twenty-eight years of experience has taught them: stay out of the woods, sleeping is acceptable, and don't trust anyone.
