The character "Freddy," with his pink mane, resembles a poodle more than a wolf, yet he proves quite enthusiastic when assisting the group of lupine superheroes dedicated to aiding those facing trouble! Tired of being belittled, he directs his gaze upward and wishes for something different. Suddenly, a moon spirit called “Moopoo” appears, and he’s no longer seen as weak. However, this new blue companion requires life energy to exist, so they must discover how to return him to his people on the moon, or everyone could face disaster! The only solution involves locating "Max"—a wolf banished from the pack who resides in the forest's depths and holds the necessary magical spell. They embark on their quest, but will “Max,” harboring resentment, agree to help them, or does she perhaps have a secret scheme for revenge against those who rejected her? It’s an enjoyable family adventure overall, though it seems unsure of exactly who it’s meant to appeal to. Younger viewers might not grasp the feeling of (afternoon) danger that arises later in the story, while older children could be turned off by "Freddy's" initially immature portrayal. The film also feels about twenty minutes longer than necessary; nevertheless, as a straightforward and uncomplicated entertainment, it delivers on its promise, touching upon the desires we all experience when we’re young—the longing to belong, to take charge, and feel worthwhile. It isn't particularly memorable, but the animation is adequate, and it’s reasonably entertaining.
