The film presents “Sébastian” (George Babluani), whose roofing job turns out to be less risky than what he encounters next. While working, he discovers a note placed on his wheelbarrow—the circumstances of which are known to the story but not to him initially. This discovery kicks off a series of events involving a locker, a train ride, and an encounter with some shady characters who force him into a high-stakes game where survival hangs in the balance. Despite feeling fear and worry, the promise of significant money motivates him to continue, all while under the watchful eye of a particularly intimidating host (Pascal Bongard). The question becomes whether he can believe any of these newfound acquaintances will honor their commitments. There are some secondary storylines involving law enforcement, the person initially targeted by this dangerous situation, and an axe used on a bathroom door—the resolution didn’t sit well with me, but generally Babluani's performance combined with the film's cinematography makes it one of the most gripping thrillers I’ve experienced recently. The way the story unfolds enhances the sense of danger, and the acting along with the concise yet impactful dialogue really builds tension as things escalate. It manages to cover a lot in ninety minutes and is definitely worth seeing if you appreciate crime stories that are harsh but not excessively violent.
