This film draws inspiration from the Thai movie '13 Beloved,' and while I haven’t experienced that original work, the storyline feels quite recognizable. Several movies have explored this concept before, and this one offers a slight variation on it. The plot centers around a man anticipating fatherhood with his fiancée, but he loses his job and finds himself uncertain about how to handle parenthood or provide for his family. A mysterious phone call then presents him with a series of challenges, each offering a larger reward if completed. Initially simple, the tasks quickly become more complex as he discovers he can’t withdraw from the game according to its established rules. The film follows his journey as he attempts to finish what he started. Given that this isn't an entirely original concept, I had hoped for a truly exceptional narrative, but I was somewhat let down. While the beginning was promising and the first half generally strong, the movie ultimately failed to live up to its initial potential. However, it did unfold in a rather unexpected manner. Based on reactions, fans of the original Thai film seemed dissatisfied with this adaptation—a fairly common occurrence with remakes. Even for those unfamiliar with '13 Beloved,' enjoyment may be limited, particularly if you’ve already seen films like '12 Rounds', 'The Game', or even 'Nerve'.
