The Hunters Collection

The Hunters Collection comprises two films, beginning with the 1996 Swedish thriller Jägarna (also known as The Hunters) and continuing with the 2011 sequel False Trail. The initial film, directed by Kjell Sundvall, centers on a police officer returning to his hometown in northern Sweden to investigate a case of reindeer poaching, which uncovers a personal connection involving his brother. Jägarna achieved significant recognition, including winning two Guldbagge Awards and receiving nominations for several other categories. A planned Hollywood remake envisioned a drastically different setting, proposing a Western narrative involving cowboys and wild horses. While initially receptive to this concept, Kjell Sundvall later reconsidered the direction of the project. The second film in the collection, False Trail, was released approximately fifteen years after the original. The total runtime of the collection is 242 minutes, and the combined budget for both films was 17,500,000.
