Over the Rainbow

"Over the Rainbow" is a film collection comprising six productions conceived by Taiwanese director Zero Chou as the Six Asian Cities Rainbow Project. This series focuses on LGBTQ+ issues, with each of the six films shot in a different city across Asia. As of 2021, five of the planned productions have been completed in Chengdu, Beijing, Singapore, Taipei, and Penang, with a sixth project slated for Hong Kong. The collection's films span from 2017 to 2021, totaling 428 minutes in runtime. Four films are currently part of the collection: We Are Gamily, The Substitute, Wrath of Desire, and Secrets of 1979. The project has a total budget and revenue of zero. The films within "Over the Rainbow" offer diverse perspectives on LGBTQ+ experiences within Asian contexts. For example, We Are Gamily (2017) and The Substitute (2017) are among the completed productions in the series. The project represents a sustained effort to explore LGBTQ+ narratives across different Asian cities over a four-year period.
