Hot Shots! Collection

The Hot Shots! Collection is a two-film series released between 1991 and 1993. The collection features comedic spoof films directed by Jim Abrahams and written by himself and Pat Proft. Drawing inspiration from the comedic style of Airplane!, the films primarily parody the 1986 action film Top Gun, while also incorporating elements from movies such as Rocky and Superman. The initial film, Hot Shots! (1991), stars Charlie Sheen, Cary Elwes, and Valeria Golino, among others. It was followed by a sequel, Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993), which continued the comedic approach of the original. The entire collection has a total runtime of 173 minutes and a reported budget of $51 million, with total revenue of $314.85 million. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer, who appeared in Hot Shots!, later collaborated on the television series Two and a Half Men. Ryan Stiles, another cast member from the films, also had a recurring role in that series. The two films in the collection collectively have an IMDb rating of 6.6 and 6.7 respectively.
